Water Users Association

Chipunga Farm has facilitated the creation of a Water Users Association where it cooperates with local communities, other users, and the government to ensure responsible water use and sustainable management of the catchment area for now and the future.

This association is part of our Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) plan, which includes building a dam on the Chipunga River to store water during the rainy season for use during the dry season.

The knowledge and experience gained through this project will be transferred to Kajikhomele Farm in Chiwera, Rumphi District, where another independent and registered company of the Diocese intends to open a 100 ha farm for coffee, macadamia, and beekeeping.

IWRM Partners

  • Local farming communities
  • Government water authorities
  • Chipunga River catchment stakeholders
  • Environmental conservation groups
